The following timeline puts some of Joseph Smith’s work, joys, and sorrows into their time and setting. It was in the hearts of some who knew him to be his brothers and sisters for eternity, and in the hearts of others to shed his blood. Joseph Smith’s thirty-eight and one-half years were marked by the highest of spiritual peaks and the depths of tribulation, sorrow, and betrayal such as few mortals have experienced.
